Manuscripts


Authors wishing to contribute to MAJ should first contact the editor with an abstract and a proposal (david.marshall@unimelb.edu.au).

If invited to send the full manuscript, it should be in electronic form, as a Microsoft Word or rtf document.

The submission must conform to the MAJ style guide.

The file should include at the beginning:

Illustrations should be provided in the first instance as low-resolution images as a separate Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) document (not a Word file with images inserted). Authors must be able to provide original photographs acquired from the copyright holder at short notice. These are normal TIFF files at least 3000 pixels wide/high made from the original work of art (not scanned from books).

Initial revisions may be requested by the editor before manuscripts are sent to referees.

Copyright permission is the responsibility of the author, and copies of letters authorising reproduction must be provided to the editor at the point of acceptance of the article following the refereeing process. Copyright permissions must include both hard-copy (one language, one country, rights, as well as electronic rights.

MAJ articles will be published in the first instance as a printed journal or edited book, and after a moratorium period in open-access electronic form.

Published authors receive 10 printed copies of the Journal.
